Eight Things You Don't Know About Me

Can you tell I'm excited?!

advertisement

Much to my discomfort, I have been tagged by Jason Boog of ThePublishingSpot to tell you 8 things you don't know about me. Not so long ago, a different version of this meme touched Newsvine and I avoided it because...well because I hate writing about myself. I don't want to break the chain, so to speak so I'm going to divulge some personal information for your amuse...I mean enlightenment.

Okay obligatory stuff first:
1. We have to post these rules before we give you the facts.
2. Players start with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
3. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
4. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
5. Don't forget to leave them a comment telling them they're tagged, and to read your blog.

Now the fun starts:

  1. I was a competitive swimmer from the age of four until my second year in college. For me, swimming is still the only way to exercise.
  2. My first year in college I became an Ambassador of Tolorance and went on a 5 country tour through Europe. I was lucky enough to visit London, Amsterdam, Poland, Sarajevo, and Prague. Key tour points included both Auswitz concentration camps, Anne Frank's addict and a town hall meeting with Bosnia teens.
  3. I am a Freedom Writer (I know...for those of you who have bothered to read my bio that seems like a cop out, but some others reading this might not know, so shhh)
  4. I played the viola until I moved to Long Beach , where they seemed to have never heard of the the violin's cousin.
  5. I don't like animals or children, though I can stand to be around well behaved children and well trained animals. Don't get it twisted, I love my kids, but I've been told that I treat them like little adults and have very high standards for behavior and such.
  6. I am the oldest of four. This could explain why I don't much care for children, I never had a whole lot of time to enjoy my childhood since quite a bit of it was spent taking care of my younger brother and sisters.
  7. I am a very devoted Christian and an excellent example that intellectualism is not the enemy of spirituality.
  8. I love to play World of Warcraft in my spare time

Okay, so there you have it. Now I'm going to tag: Scott (Scoop) Butki, Ardith, Joseph, Rebecca, Aunk (The Cultural Guy), Roger and Carolyn.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

No fair tagging Scott... he already did this.

And... so did I, actually.

Ha! Sorry about that...I suppose he doesn't have to do it again. It was a completely random selection...

Cool idea, but just to amuse myself I'm going to flip it. I will invite anyone who wishes to find out more about me to ask me 8 questions by 10:30PM Eastern Daylight Time tonight. I will answer any questions received by that deadline conditioned on the fact that the questions do not ask for information that could be used for identity theft. Interested inquisitors can post their questions here.

I don't like animals or children

This could be a problem in September...not the "children" part.

You mean the critters will come creeping into my bed at night?! I've never been on a real camping trip before (not that staying at a lodge with hot tub and professional cleaning counts as camping) but I don't necessarily have a problem with nature on my terms. Since I am sure there will be all sorts of things out in the woods I will probably just stay as close to the lodge as possible or scream if I feel like I am in danger. LOL seriously though, I'm not too high maintenance and there will be no need for special boxes thank-you-very-much. I think my disdain will work well enough to repel at least the "cute" critters - it usually does. They since that I'm not having it and stay away.

There will probably be plenty of squirrels and chipmunks around the lodge, as well as birds (this is no joke....some of them get HUGE, particularly the eagles and ravens). Count on a lot of bats after sunset. Since we will be BBQing, raccoons are a possibility and coyotes are almost guaranteed. When we venture into the woods, there is always the possibility of bobcats, cougars, bears, etc, but mostly they are pretty shy. Of course, there is always the odd deer, snake, possum....LOL..as I was typing this, one of the jumbo-nuclear-powered ravens started honking outside the window, as if to say, "kymlee? Can't wait to meet her!"

I'm way on the late freight on this, but do I have to be tagged to post? Do I have to be part of the group? I will probably email this comment to you (kymlee) because I don't know how often you check for new comments, though I'm sure it's regularly.

Oh I check quite regularly my friend...Ok, tag. You're it. Just make sure you don't post it to all of newsvine and I'll clip it to the group if you are not already a member.
