Okay So I Did Something Stupid at Vinemeet

The weekend is almost over, and I had finally slept off my hang over. As I emerge from the room bright eyed and rested, an official looking woman reprimanded us for parking our cars on the road. Since I had parked on the road in order to avoid the awkward backing out of the driveway tomorrow, I got the idea that if I backed into the driveway, I would be better prepared to leave in the morning...

...Well things didn't work out according to my plan. I missed the driveway and planted my car in the dirt on a 45 degree incline on the side of the mountain. We all go dirty digging around the tires and trying to figure out how to get the car out of this ditch when someone finally had a viable solution: call a tow truck. It was at that moment - and not before - I remembered that I had AAA.

Go ahead and have your laughs. I am sharing this with you all because if I don't you will hear about it from others and I would rather the embarrassment come directly from me.

AAA made me sign a waiver saying that they are not responsible for any damage done to my car before the guy pulled it out of the hole...Yes I take responsibility...It's out now and there doesn't seem to be any internal damage. I know I'll have to get it checked when I get back into the city...

Alright, I'm ready for the ridicule...

I believe this occured mere moments after I hung up the phone. So in a way... I really should have told you what I was supposed to tell you...

...Jesus, It's my fault.

Hey, those things happen to the best of us, kymlee - no big deal. I'm glad the car seems to be fine. I want to hear about all the Vinemeet "war stories". :-)

If that was the most embarrassing thing to happen then you're pretty much in the clear, from what I gather...

Thanks Djehuty. I can proudly say that was the most embarracing thing to happen to me this weekend...I was otherwise the conscience of Vinemeet and no one, especially Walt would let me forget about it...

It's amazing in retrospect that I managed to get through 3 days without you actually smacking me! :)

If it's any consolation, I was a little concerned about the amount of alcohol people were consuming...AND, I told Myk to move his big head out of my rear view mirror (he was panicking and kept trying to look at the road but his head was in my way, lol). The way he looked, I may as well have slapped him. ;-)

May I also suggest AA? ; )

Sorry kiddo. I've been making fun of you behind your back since Saturday morning, when I "heard about it from others."

Glad you got it out, glad you all appear to be alive! (though possibly barely)

Viki,

I just listened to your message today, sorry I missed your call. I just re-read the email I wrote to you. Wow.

Viki, don't be nice. Calvin acted up at Vinemeet. I had to become his proverbial Jimini Cricket and save him from a certain Newsvine admin fall from grace. I'm almost sorry I didn't save him sooner...Hey Calvin, at least I didn't do what you did!

Hearing it first hand doesn't make it any less ridiculous, if I were there I'd of made fun of you too...how long did it take you to realize you had AAA? Perhaps if you took Lauhal's advice and used AA you'd have remember about AAA!

Dammit, that's not fair, I told you that in confidence, now you wanna bust me out. ::blushing:: It took about an hour, and still it wasn't until Myk and Walt were down the hill trying to (get this) clear away trees to roll my car down to the road (which most all of us agreed was a horrible idea) and Wisome through out the possibility of calling a tow truck.

If it was left up to us guys, some of us were clearing brush and a path to drive it down the mountain side. I was betting it would have cleared the road once it went airborne and splashed into Big Bear Lake :) I had my camera ready and everything until someone came up with the tow truck ideal. I am sure I could have got more hits on YouTube than Chocolate Rain ;)

I have a great time and loved meeting you Kymlee!

I was actually telling Gwen last night that it was the constant joking and positive vibes that kept me from just freaking out. I love all my Newsvine friends. Even if I haven't met you in person yet, I am almost positive that most of you would make great real life friends. I can't wait for the next Vinemeet. Ooooh! Perhaps in Temecula, for wine tasting, then we'd have to pretend to be civil. LMAO

Temecula

Oh, no no no . . .lol. The next one has to be more north. Besides, Northern CA is where the REAL wine growers live. And Napa would be closer to Seattle and stuff. Honestly, I would like to see us starting to plan if we are going to do this annually. You can get much better rates on stuff if you reserve it way out.

I believe the next one is Vinemeet East, but there is a small contingent that wants to put one together in Seattle as well. Dr. Frank is currently doing some reconnaissance in the Pacific Northwest for that one.

Damn, I doubt I could make it to the Vinemeet East...It was a stretch selling Know More Media's CEO on why he should pay for my trip to the one this weekend. Anyway, I was talking about the next one in my neck of the woods. Seattle might definitely be doable...would you be hosting Calvin?

I bet we could caravan, too. Folks the furthest south could just drive up the coast, either parking and riding with others or someone could just rent a van and we could all go together. I would even drive a LITTLE. :D
