Vinemeet: Ragga Muffins Festival?

Every year Long Beach hosts one of (if not the) the largest reggae festivals in the country and every year I attend. Last year Walt left a comment on my show wrap-up that sounded like he wished he was there. In the process of sending emails to him and Orlando about this year's upcoming festival on Feb 16th and 17th, it occurred to me that this was an opportunity for a Vinemeet. And when we left the mountains last year, Walt, Orlando and I vowed not to let an entire year pass before we saw each other again.

So here's the deal, if you're going to be in the area (or don't mind making the trip for some good music, fun and connecting with some of your Newsvine friends), I'm inviting you to come along. The more the merrier. We could rent a hotel suite and make a weekend of it! I'll at the festival both days, no matter what (I'm covering the event for Listen In).

Oh hell it is a shame I can't get there, I love reggae. I have, however, been to Caribana in Toronto, which is amazing:

Caribana is a festival of Caribbean culture and traditions held each summer in the city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Annually Caribana draws hundreds of thousands of tourists from around the globe to Toronto's lakeshore. Caribana is a Caribbean Carnival-style event, that has been billed as North America's largest street festival, frequented by over 1.3 million visitors each year for the festival's final parade.

Kymleee - I love our Ragga Muffins fest tradition, nothing like press passes to make the show that much better.

And while I'm never one to get a shout out to police, I must admit LBPD puts up with quite a lot of shenanigens at the festival, and lets a great deal slide.

I do hope the vendors feature something better than those tired goods from years past.

Here's to our legs, Lord knows they're going to be stiff, tired and sore, I wouldn't have it any other way!

Funny thing is that last year we had to get ear plugs for standing next to the speaker back stage...I suspect we'll have to do the same thing this year. You're in charge of that task. ;)

Let this be a warning to anyone planning to attend, you could spend the entire weekend sitting on your tuckus but Tanya and I will be waring ourselves out walking around and going back and forth from backstage to the stadium seats. Stairs, hills, mid-day breaks...phew! Prepare to be exhausted by the end of the day...

Spencer, there aren't really many details to send just yet. If you're going, make sure you get your tickets early (they have been selling out the last couple of years) and as the date approaches, we can discuss where we're going to meet. I recommend getting floor tickets. Tanya and I will be roaming around occasionally since part of our purpose in attending is to write about the event. I'll keep you posted though. Still waiting to see who else is interested.
